In Greene County district court Jody Lyn Schad, 44,of Jefferson was sentenced June 28 to five years in prison after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of theft- second degree. The prison term is concurrent to the terms in two other Greene County cases and one Dallas County case. Schad was fined $750 with a $262.50 surcharge. Both were suspended. He must pay a $125 Law Enforcement Initiative surcharge. Charges of burglary- third degree- motor vehicle (three counts) and possession of marijuana- second offense were dismissed. A judgment was entered in magistrate court against Whitney Jean Campbell Perez, 21, of Coon Rapids on a charge of harassment- third degree (simple misdemeanor), amended from harassment- second degree (serious misdemeanor). Daryn Joseph Mallory, 54, of Jefferson was sentenced to 25 years in prison after he changed his plea to guilty to one count of distribution of a controlled substance to a person younger than 18. The prison term was suspended and he was placed on probation for three years. He must under a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommended treatment at his own expense. He must pay a $10 drug abuse resistance education (DARE) surcharge and a $125 LEI surcharge. On a charge of possession of marijuana Mallory was sentenced to 120 days in jail. He was fined $315 with a $110.25 surcharge. Both were suspended. He must pay a $10 DARE surcharge and a $125 LEI surcharge. He must pay restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees, sheriff’s room and board and court costs in an amount up to $4,000. One count of distribution of a controlled substance to a minor and one count of supplying alcohol to a minor was dismissed. Shawn Annear, 43, of Adel was sentenced June 28 to five years in prison after he pleaded guilty to a charge of criminal mischief- second degree, amended from criminal mischief- first degree. The prison term was suspended and he was placed on probation for two years. He was fined $750 with a $262.50 surcharge and a $125 LEI surcharge. He must also pay $1,150.53 victim restitution. Annear was sentenced to 30 days in jail on a charge of domestic abuse assault causing bodily injury. All but five days of the jail time was suspended and he was placed on probation for one year. He was fined $315 with a $110.25 surcharge and a $100 domestic abuse surcharge. He must complete a batterers education program at his own expense. Annear must also undergo a substance abuse evaluation and comply with all treatment recommendations. He must pay $411.50 restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees and $500 court costs. Allen George Smith, 42, of Grand Junction was sentenced June 27 to one year in the county jail after he pleaded guilty to a charge of theft- fourth degree, amended from theft- third degree. The jail time was suspended and he was placed on informal probation for one year. Smith was fined $315 with a $110.25 surcharge and a $125 LEI surcharge. Taylor James King, 26, of Des Moines was granted a deferred judgment after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of possession of marijuana. He was placed on informal probation for one year, and he must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommended treatment at his own expense. He must pay a $315 civil penalty with a $125 LEI surcharge. Court costs were $140. A case in magistrate court in which King was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia was dismissed. Hayley Lynn Brown, 26, of Jefferson was sentenced June 28 to five years in prison after she pleaded guilty to a charge of possession of contraband on the grounds of a correctional facility. The prison term is concurrent to other Greene County sentences. Brown was fined $750 with a $262.50 surcharge; both were suspended. She must pay a $125 LEI surcharge.
In a magistrate case against Brown she was sentenced to 30 days in jail concurrent to the above prison sentence on a charge of assault. She was fined $65 with a $22.75 surcharge. The judge ruled she is unable to pay $400 restitution for her court appointed attorney’s fees and $135 court costs because of her incarceration. (Sentencing: McCarville)
Dalton Lee Weber, 20, of Jefferson was sentenced June 28 to 30 days in jail after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of assault causing bodily injury. The jail time was suspended and he was placed on informal probation for one year. He was fined $315 with a $110.25 surcharge charge. Curtis Gene Hoyt, 44, of Perry was sentenced to six days in jail after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of operating while intoxicated- first offense. He must pay sheriff’s room and board fees for the time he serves. He must complete the recommendations of a substance abuse evaluation he has already undergone, and he must complete a community college drinking drivers school. In lieu of two days of the jail time and the drinking drivers school he may complete the Des Moines Area Community College 48 hour alcohol education program. Hoyt was fined $1,250 with a $437.50 surcharge; one-half will be waived if he obtains a temporary restricted license. He must also pay a $10 DARE surcharge. William John Becker, 60, of Des Moines was sentenced June 28 to two years in prison after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of OWI- second offense. All but seven days of the prison time was suspended and he was placed on probation for two years. He must complete the recommendations of a substance abuse evaluation he has already undergone. He must also complete a community college drinking drivers school. Becker was fined $1,875 with a $656.25 surcharge. Court costs were $140. (Sentencing: McCarville)

Information is available since the return of an arrest warrant that Lee Charles Jenne, 34, of Palatine, IL, is charged with forgery in connection with his allegedly using counterfeit $20 bills at Wild Rose Casino. The warrant was issued Feb. 6 and returned June 26.
